Types of Brachioplasty:

Brachioplasty is not a one-size-fits-all procedure; it comes in various types to address individual needs. Whether you’ve lost a substantial amount of weight or simply want to tighten loose skin, Mr. Erdmann offers tailored solutions to suit your goals. These types include:

Standard Brachioplasty:

This procedure involves incisions on the inside of the arm, typically extending from the armpit to just above the elbow.

Limited-incision Brachioplasty:

Scars are limited to the armpit areas, making them less conspicuous. These are rarely performed but are useful in specific circumstances

Extended Brachioplasty:

Suitable for those with more extensive sagging skin, this incision extends from the elbow to the armpit, and sometimes even to the side of the chest. This is useful in massive weight loss patients.

Am I a good candidate for this procedure?

Ideal candidates are men and women within reach of their ideal weight, with issues like loose, sagging arm skin or excess fat deposits. However, to ensure safety and optimal results, Mr. Erdmann will assess your suitability during a consultation.

What results can I realistically expect with a Brachioplasty?

Improved arm contour:

Brachioplasty is designed to enhance the overall appearance of your arms by providing a smoother and more toned contour. It effectively eliminates excess, sagging skin that may have developed due to factors like aging, weight loss, or genetics.

Sagging skin elimination:

The primary goal of Brachioplasty is to address sagging skin, often referred to as “bat wings.” This procedure effectively removes this unwanted skin, helping you achieve arms that appear firmer and more youthful.

Youthful appearance:

With the removal of excess skin, you can expect a more youthful and rejuvenated look in your upper arms. This can significantly boost your self-confidence and make you feel more comfortable in sleeveless clothing.

Enhanced skin elasticity:

Brachioplasty not only removes excess skin but also enhances the elasticity of the remaining skin. This means that your arms will not only look better immediately after the procedure but will continue to improve in appearance over time.

Fat deposit reduction:

In some cases, Brachioplasty may also involve the removal of excess fat deposits. While this procedure can improve arm contour, it’s essential to understand that it won’t lead to significant weight loss. It’s best suited for individuals who are close to their ideal weight but struggle with loose, sagging skin on their upper arms.

Boosted confidence:

Perhaps one of the most significant outcomes of Brachioplasty is the boost in self-confidence it can provide. When you’re no longer self-conscious about the appearance of your arms, you’ll feel more at ease wearing sleeveless clothing and showing off your arms in various social settings.
While the procedure can deliver remarkable improvements to the appearance of your arms, it’s not a substitute for weight loss or a comprehensive fitness regimen. If your primary goal is to address excess fat rather than loose skin, Mr. Matt Erdmann may recommend alternative procedures such as liposuction. Mr. Erdmann and his experienced team can assess your individual needs during a consultation and provide guidance on the best approach to help you achieve your desired results.

When can I drive?

Usually after 10 days, once the wounds have healed satisfactorily

When can I return to exercise?

Dependant on the type of exercise, anywhere from 4-6 weeks after surgery.

Can I have local anesthetic?

The procedure is done under a general anesthetic (Patient asleep), as the amount of local anesthetic required for an effective surgery would be too large for the body to cope with.
